Question...
Hey all, I am sorry wasn't in class today. I wasn't feeling the best ever. I see that the final has been posted, is it due the 3rd i thought we had til the 6th to turn it in i am scared. What else did i miss today? Thanks everyone :)
Coen Essay... Final Draft
well.. i am calling it a night wiht 16 minutes to spare. nice
Opinons....?
So I actually have a draft of the essay finished. I really would like to do well on this assignment, so any thoughts as to how I could fix this paper would be most appreciated. I found it really difficult to articulate and give examples, my memory is failing me!
Icky...
Wow.. i really don't like this novel at all! I hope that I will appreciate it more once we discuss it in class, but i feel ripped off right now. Any ways, besides venting this blog has a purpose. So one similarity i noticed is that Chigurh tells Carla Jean how the dead hold you accountable for your actions becuase your word is not dead, even if they are. I thought this tied in to Bell's feelings about the war. He still feels guilty for leaving his comrades in the night because he promised to stay with them.
Wells
I really like Wells, he should have came in the book earlier :) He is a know-it-all and i love his confidence. I hope he sticks around for a while because he is making the reading more interesting... although it has definitely picked up since pg 40.
What page am i supposed to read until again?
so i am on 141, i thought we were supposed to read til 178... but there is no chapter end there... what page do i stop at?
A Good Man is Hard to Find
So, here is something i thought about. At the end of the story when the grandmother reaches out to touch Misfit he pulls back like a snake bit him. Is the snake a reference to the serpent in the Garden of Eden? if so was it Misfit choosing to ignore the call from "God" and resigning to a life of evil? hmm... i don't know, what do you all think?
Billy Collins and Individualism
Billy Collins' poetry stands out compared to most other poetry. Collins' poetry speaks in a way that it can be understood by most and is completely original. His poems "Marginalia," "Workshop," and "Introduction to Poetry" all touch on the individualism. In the United States, individualism is highly valued. It is not easy to be an individual, however, when society's pressures seek to make people conform. These poems touch on the struggle aginst conformity and individualism.
