This image is about the theme that I think is most dominant in America, change. Three poems i chose deal with some form of change. The man with the how represents change through hard labor, strange fruit through coming together (civil rights movement), and a blessing through better understanding. Although Strange Fruit does not speak about civil rights, it was a controversial song that clearly called out for change.

The Declaration of Independence is faded into the background because this country was founded on that document, a document that was made with the ability to be changed. Clearly, change is a theme of America. All three forms of change listed on the bottom of the picture are tied together, because change has come to America in all three of these ways. The American dream is based on hard work, the civil rights movement based on coming together, and our increasing diversity is based on understanding of others.
