In reflection I wish that I had examined the soundtrack for the contemporary Miami Vice film.  It is one of my favorites and has very little dialogue.  The music plays such a substantial role in the development of the characters that it would be very interesting to imagine different songs being played.  Of course, the 80s flair and fashion would have to be preserved.

I thought it was very interesting reading through and examining multiple graphic novels this semester. I think that the amount of detail and the nuances in Watchmen made it very difficult to adapt the novel successfully into a movie. On the other hand, I think that Frank Miller's style was abstract enough and that he broke down his story enough that it was able to spin into an interesting and successful film.

Something I think that has been overlooked in this class is the fact that technology remains a salient feature of the learning process.  Prezi is by far one of the most valuable technologies I have learned to use and have used it in other classes since Dr. Anderson introduced it to me.  Furthermore, I continue to use googledoc in other classes and projects to make collaboration easier.  The technology we have been required to use and learn, although simple, I find invaluable.

My favorite text that was studied in this course was by far The Watchmen.  Previously I had likened Watchmen to playing Dungeons and Dragons and trading Pokemon cards.  It was simply something that I thought was really nerdy but had no previous exposure to.  But this class showed me a novel of substance that was certainly worth my time.  I really enjoyed the subtle cultural critiques throughout the story and once I began reading it I had trouble stopping.  It was a fantastic read for me.

This novel was difficult for me to get through, because of the ambuguity of the characters in the beginning of the novel.  Once I got into it, though, and learned how to read Cormac McCarthy's writing style( and yes, I believe it has to be read a certain way in order to grasp the significance of it all and how it ties together with the plot), I actually enjoyed this Western-ish novel!  That is one aspect of english classes that I can say I love is reading novels that I would not have considered beforehand and actually enjoying them enough to recommend to someone.  I have recommended this book to my brother, who lives in Africa, and my Aunt Betty, who is an avide reader and *loves* John Wayne.
