One of the big things we looked at in this class is ideas and how we convey them. We looked at how an author conveys a particular idea, feeling, or cultural situation through prose. We then looked at how producers and screen writers struggle to convey these ideas of the author into a screen play and movie.

Metaphor is one of the time honored devices employed to help writers convey their ideas. Yet, as we've all seen at least once before, sometimes they can be absolutely overpowering. Instead of further elucidating the meaning, these metaphors merely cloud it. The above excerpt, which is along those lines, is really funny.
