Ben Harper Podcast

I like the way you put in

I like the way you put in interview clips and the way you defended your points, clearly, yet casually. Nice job!

Nice Podcast

I liked listening to your podcast, I think you did a great job organizing it and proving that Ben Harper should definitely be considered literary--you made a lot of good points. And I liked your song-to-interview transitions, like Kevin said. Awesome job!

Excellent Work!

I enjoyed listening to this podcast--very conversational and puts you at ease. I loved the musical selections, I think you did a good job of highlighting the best of Harper's work, given the limited amount of time you had in the cast itself. I thought it was interesting that you chose at a few points to transition directly from song to interview. I think that provides a nice change of pace and it's something I wish I had done in my own podcast. Overall, very nice work, it was a pleasure to listen!

Meredith, The opening of the

Meredith, The opening of the third version is nice and catchy and the layering of the BH interview over the top is effective, though be ready to break in a bit more quickly and maybe pick up on the microphone point in the interview. I like you focus on social issues so a bit of connecting the “voice” and transitioning to the social change bit might be emphasized more in your first segment. The motivation segment next is a nice length—you might think about ways to keep it squarely on the idea of motivation. The next segment is nicely focused on the carpe diem angle—but you might think about the lead outs of these segments—e.g. the switch to the blues is fine, but closing the carpe diem idea first after the song clip will help with the flow. Similarly with the move out of the blues and into religion. I’m wondering if cutting down on the number of points might not be a bad idea. The closing is fine, and the mirroring of the opening in the closing works really well. This is really nice—again narrowing and sharpening the middle sections will make it even stronger.

Thoughts....

Working on transitions is going to be key, perhaps fading in and out under the effects tab will else. The volume levels too. You can try to get them about the same, either by the volume on the left side of the clips or by using the amplify effect.

Good Content

I listened to the second podcast file you posted. The volume levels were not a major problem, but you may want to soften the interviews and songs a little or boost the volume a little on your speaking. However, its not a major problem. I thought you made some good points and the narration, interviews, and songs were pieced together well. No single part was too long or too short. However, you may want to record a brief conclusion for the podcast. Overall, great job!

good job

i really enjoyed the begining and how you had the interview over the music. also the opening song was a great choice because it had a very catchy beat. only thing i can think of that could be improved are the transitions. good job though
