Thomas, I think the podcast

Thomas, I think the podcast is coming along. I'm wondering a bit about
the length and the key points that you want to get across. To me the
most interesting ideas you put forth revolve around the Leila segment
and Stand by ME. I like that you are discussing a juxtaposition between
the sound/style of the Leila and the film. This feels different than the
first two examples in that is is deliberate, meant to make a point about
beautifying violence or something like that. The first two examples are
more along the lines of a song was chosen because it sounds good, but
has nothing to do with the film.

Stand by Me feels different in that it actually matches the message of
the film. I think you may be able to bring this out even more by
trimming some of the song. The points you make here are really
strong--probably the best in the podcast.

Eye of the Tiger does have a pretty direct connection to sports through
Rocky, but I'm not sure that this point is really that different than
the stand by me song--the film gives meaning to the song.

Shout, I guess, does go in a bit of a different direction in that it
tries to reach outside of the films and connect with events in the
viewer/listener's lives--if that is the point you want to get at.

So, the biggest thing I would say is tighten/shorten, and then figure
out and hammer on the points. You could start with an outline

Songs 1 and 2 -- no connection (probably could just do one)
Leila--juxtaposition, creates new meaning Stand by me--content of film
changes meaning of song Eye of Tiger--contnet of film changes intensity
of song Shout--content of film changes song, but connections to lives
take it to the next level?

Not sure if this is it, but you can see you could probably combine in
two spots from this list.

Technically, you'll want to shorten the song segments. Work on the
transitions, levels, etc. Also some of the songs were a bit glitchy,
restarting or skipping.
