Jason Bourne

Jason Bourne is a man without his memory. Through a series of 3 movies, Jason embarks on a quest to find out his real identity and why the CIA wasnts him dead. Jason goes through a series of emotions on the trip from love to heartbreak to anger and most evident, his desire to take down the government program that created him. Jason has a hard time expressing his emotions openly but if paying close attention, you can pick up his emotions. I believe that the songs I have selected are a good representation of Jason's emotions throughout the trilogy.

The first song I picked is "Echoes" by Pink Floyd. Not only do the lyrics match up with Jason's initial felling of being lost, the music throughout this song makes you feel like you are just floating through the air aimlessly, just like Jason.
"And no-one called us to the land
And no-one knows the wheres or whys
But something stirs and something tries
And starts to climb towards the light"
The next song i chose is "Master of Puppets" by Metallica. The fast pace of the song is a good fit because of the fast pace of the movies and most all of the lyrics are a great fit for Jason's assumption that he and others who were asassians for the CIA were "puppets." Also the fact that Jason is deeply disturbed fits these lyrics. The lyrics from this song are very harse which fits Jason's nature perfectly.
"Master of puppets Im pulling your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you cant see a thing
Just call my name, `cause Ill hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, `cause Ill hear you scream
Master
Master"
I chose another song the represents Jason's felling that he was a puppet. I chose the song "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath. This song is again fast paced to go along with the movie. This song has more to deal with the heads of the government that just sit back as they send people into the line of fire to do their dirty work.
"Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of deaths construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds, oh lord yeah!
Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor."
The next song I felt represented Jason's paranoid behavior and ironically that is the name of the song, "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath. The is only the span between the first and second installment that Jason can feel safe but once he is framed for a murder of two officials in Berlin, he must watch his back every second or he is dead. Again, the fast pace of the song is a great fit since the movie is very face paced.
"I need someone to show me the things in life that I cant find
I cant see the things that make true happiness, I must be blind
Make a joke and I will sigh and you will laugh and I will cry
Happiness I cannot feel and love to me is so unreal
And so as you hear these words telling you now of my state
I tell you to enjoy life I wish I could but its too late"
In the midst of the gun fire and heart pounding car chases of the first film, Jason falls in love with a women he met at the American Embassy, who also drove him whereever he wanted for a sum of $20,000. After realizing that they were both targeted by the CIA, he gets her to change her appearance and thats the start of their love. The next morning, she awakes to Jason just staring at her. Although he does not say it you can tell that he has fell in love. This song doesn't really fit in with the rest of the movie, but at this moment it is how Jason feels. The song is "How Sweet it is" by James Taylor.

"I needed the shelter of someone's arms, and there you were
I needed someone to understand my ups and downs, and there you were
With sweet love and devotion
Deeply touching my emotion
I want to stop and thank you baby
I want to stop and thank you baby
How sweet it is to be loved by you
How sweet it is to be loved by you"
At the begining of the second installment, Jason's love is caught in the line of fire and is killed by an asassin. Jason is devastated although he does not let it affect his judgement. The song i chose for this is "Every Breath You Take" by The Police. The tone of the song along with the lyrics are a perfect fit for his feelings as he watches the love of his life die.
"Since youve gone I been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but its you I cant replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby, please..."

Another song to go along with the devastation of Jason losing his love is "Ten Years Gone" by Led Zeppelin. Throughout the rest of the series you can tell how the loss of his loved one affects him. She was the only person that he actually knew and now he is all alone in his fight to discover who he actually is.

"Changes fill my time, baby, that’s alright with me
In the midst I think of you, and how it used to be
Did you ever really need somebody, and really need ’em bad
Did you ever really want somebody, the best something you ever had
Do you ever remember me, baby, did it feel so good
Cause it was just the first time, and you knew you would"
The final song i have choosen is one that will represent the anger and the desire for revenge that Jason experiences. He tells the CIA that if they ever come after him again that he will retalliate and after they kill the love of his life, he goes on the rampage. The song I chose has very angry lyrics towards the American government, many of those which are probably shared by Jason at this point in the story. "Know Your Enemy" by Rage Against the Machine.
"Now I got no patience
So sick of complacence
With the d the e the f the I the a the n the c the e
Mind of a revolutionary
So clear the lane
The finger to the land of the chains
What? the land of the free?
Whoever told you that is your enemy?
Now something must be done
About vengeance, a badge and a gun
cause Ill rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system
I was born to rage against em"

As a Bourne fan, I found this
As a Bourne fan, I found this playlist entertaining. On an aesthetic note, one thing you might consider is adding break lines between the songs to make the layout of the playlist clearer. Also, I think everyone loves music videos, so adding some more YouTube videos may also be good idea. Good work!
