About You

What is your current favorite print text and what makes it worth a look?

My Grandfather's Son, by Clarence Thomas. It's one of the most interesting autobiographies I've ever read, considering his humility and views of himself and the culture surrounding him. It's quite inspiring academically, as he rose to the supreme court, starting with the most unlikely beginnings, largely because he was educated.

What is your current favorite non-print text and what makes it worth a look?

The musical Wicked; it's phenomenal. The musical is entertaining and moving as a story, but also with the question at its base, as quoted in the musical, "Are people born wicked? Or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?"

What is the best part of being a student of English?

My studies involve concrete texts as well as mass amounts of creativity. Besides, I love to read and write and talk.
