The Human Condition - Chapter 12

Magritte's painting "The Human Condition" on page 322 is amazing to me because it is so mentally stimulating to anyone who looks at it. Upon first glance, my attention was taken to the scene outside of the window without even realizing that there was a painting within the picture. With further examination, I looked at the curtains and easel and finally the painting within the picture. It makes the viewer really appreciate the layers that can be put into a painting that is on a two dimensional surface. I'm curious why it is titled "The Human Condition".
