Chapter 12 - Writing about Art
As I read through the different poems for the very familiar photographs, it opened my eyes to new things about them. I have seen the photo of the "Mona Lisa" thousands upon thousands of times, as I'm sure everyone else has, but to stop and read the poem that followed and analyzed it, opened many new doors for me. To read how one person brought life to this photo and it made me go back to see what the author was talking about. It then led me to try to come up with my own ideas about the different photos in the chapter. I also found the "Girl Powdering Her Neck" poem interpretation to be very moving and interesting. It makes me wonder why I have passed over such photographs time and time again and never thought to stop and see what they meant to me. It also makes me pretty excited to dive into the collage project.

Writing about art
Stephanie, I agree. I never understood the meaning of art, therefore, I was very critical of it. I didn't know what made art art ; and how individuals knew which pieces were good and which ones weren't. To know the meaning behind art; demonstrates knowledge, and to give meaning thru art; demonstrates talent. After reading this chapter; I will admit my opinion has changed. I'll will now admire it as a gift of talent.
