I really enjoyed trying to pick this one apart. It seemed that there could be a relation between the time period and the painting. Perhaps having to do with the Great Depression at the time. Maybe this was some sort of government aid office. It would explain the varied expressions on people faces. Some were saddened, some complacent, some anxious, and one man was even asleep.
