Blue men

Okay, so since we mentioned the significance of Jon Osterman being blue in color, I have been racking my brain for information and finally remembered to look it up. I initially thought the blue god in Hinduism was Shiva, who had the power to destroy, but according to (reliable) source of wikipedia it is Vishnu, and the relation is even greater. It states that Vishnu is "the past, present and future, the creator and destroyer of all existences, one who supports, sustains and governs the Universe and originates and develops all elements within." Knowing this, it is almost a direct correlation with the power Jon possesses. He has the ability to develop all elements within and create and destroy existences. Perhaps this is an element that Moore and Gibbons intended to connect to the Hindu pantheon. I have yet to look into other figures of Hinduism, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were more connections.
