  • No change since mid-term, very pleased with it now

I've changed this a little bit from when i first posted it, i've drawn more connections from the lyrics and deleted a song to add a new one. I feel like now the songs have more of a connection together, as well as with Dean and his life. I took out "Sexi Plexi" by Jack Johnson and put in "Halfway Home" by Jason Mraz. I realized "Sexi Plexi" didn't exactly have the message i was going for, and "Halfway Home" did.

What started off as a relatively simple video capturing turned into quite and ordeal. After a couple failed attempts, I was finally able to gather the necessary clips. It took awhile, but it all came together in the end. As for the message of my collage, loneliness was an extremely pervading theme in both the movie and the book. Not only does a vampire have to live forever, they live alone. Lestat, the main character in a couple of Anne Rice's books in the Vampire Chronicles, struggles with this idea. He longs only to be with someone, but as Marius said earlier in the movie, "You must be dead to the world," and since vampires keep to themselves, Lestat was left alone.

The popular song "Live Like You Were Dying" my Tim McGraw is taken litterally by a man after his almost religious experience Easter morning in Jerusalem. He decides to litterally live like he was going to die in 6 months, and he tells his very interesting story of the following 6 months.

here it is

Actual Audio
This is the actual audio from the radio show "This American Life" on NPR, the very first edition (i heard it on the 10th year anniversary when they replayed the first show)

Nothing that we have worked with in this class has been printed text. We did not write anything on paper, but instead read and wrote on the computer to instantly share it with others. Literacy is being able to read and comprehend written works such as books, papers, and magazines. The ability to read is also required to read on the internet or computer. With the advances in technology and the English world shifting towards the internet for it is easier and faster to post almost anything in the internet for everyone to see and usually provide feedback on. However, to be able to get to the websites of interest a person needs to know how to successfully use a computer. Today the definition of literacy goes past being able to read out of a book or newspaper but to be able to retrieve wanted information from the internet or to use computers to communicate with others. With the growing dependence on computers today it will soon be necessary for people to be able to use computers everyday like it was once for people to read in their daily lives.

I know it's a little late, but my friend showed me this video and not only is it cool, but I thought it went along with our most recent project. I found it pretty enlightening.

My collage was based on an artist named Brian Andreas. He creates what he calls "Story People". They're sayings that go along with pictures or sometimes sculpture. Some of them are funny, some are "deep", if you will, and some are almost nonsense. Both the writing and illustrations are very simplistic and it seems that kids might have done them. I've always loved his work. What I like most about it is that it is child-like. Sometimes kids say the best stuff. I think they have a very unique and rewarding view on life. Everything is simpler and better and I wish more people could think like children. In the collage I recorded different people reading his work, and put images with it. Some of the images are from Andreas, some is original, and others are pictures and videos that I thought went along with the line. Please excuse some of the crude cuts; transitions were a little finicky.
