Nothing that we have worked with in this class has been printed text. We did not write anything on paper, but instead read and wrote on the computer to instantly share it with others. Literacy is being able to read and comprehend written works such as books, papers, and magazines. The ability to read is also required to read on the internet or computer. With the advances in technology and the English world shifting towards the internet for it is easier and faster to post almost anything in the internet for everyone to see and usually provide feedback on. However, to be able to get to the websites of interest a person needs to know how to successfully use a computer. Today the definition of literacy goes past being able to read out of a book or newspaper but to be able to retrieve wanted information from the internet or to use computers to communicate with others. With the growing dependence on computers today it will soon be necessary for people to be able to use computers everyday like it was once for people to read in their daily lives.

My video collage was on poverty and how big a problem it is, not only in the world, but also in the the United States. It is only a little over a minute long, but I already have an idea to make it longer. At the end I then want to suggest how even the smallest changes in the US could help so many people living in poverty today. http://youthnoise.com/page.php?page_id=2590 http://www.youthnoise.com/page.php?page_id=422 http://www.flickr.com/photos/dlansdown/187322880/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/daniel_allen/139281679/

My Mashup includes clips of what some women do to to their bodies in order to be considered pretty in today's society. The song, Pretty Woman, represents how they are portrayed in public after the hours they put into trying to look acceptable. I felt like making a statement about the physical standards set by society on what one should do to be accepted as good looking. I think people today are too into a person's physical features. They need to understand everyone has different qualities, and that is what makes us all beautif

Play List Collage This collage represented my play list through selected pictures. I wanted to show the division between my friend and me while also including things that kept us connected. The songs range from departing friends to the assurance that two people will never forget one another. The feelings felt by each are on the side with the two separated friends in the collage. From this my play list has more meaning to me and I hope others are still, if not better, able to relate to it all. Heart Picture of Girls

Collage 1 Michael Buble’ This song made me think of someone who has been away from the place they call home for too long. It does not seem that the man is missing a certain place but a person. This shows that home is not a certain place but it is where the people you love are at a point in time. Objects that surrounded the artist while away from home are lighter in the background because they are not as important as the objects that are not faded and centered in the collage. Pictures Used

This weekend I am going home, a place I have not spent a full weekend since college started. While college is fun and it is nice to be away I am really excited about this weekend. I am eager to see my mom and some friends that are still in high school. I guess home is a comfort zone for us all. I mean who does not want to go and sleep in their own bed, have a cafeteria-free meal, have someone else do their laundry, and have more than a 12x12 room to put our belongings in? I will probably not want to come right back to school Sunday rushing back to my 8 o'clock classes and seemingly endless homework. |
