Here is my video collage. It is about the Korean scientist Hwang Woo-Suk, who tried to develop a groundbreaking technique to clone human beings but broke a moral barrier in the process and was shamed. The uproar against him grew so great that he was forced to tearfully apologize on national television and be escorted around by armed guards. This collage is designed to use Woo-Suk's experience to raise the question, where does science breach the boundaries of what is right and wrong?

Like every other person at UNC, I have anticipated basketball season fervently. However, after watching Carolina's first two regular season basketball games, I couldn't help but notice how sloppy we were. We let Sacred Heart stick around for an entire half, and Winthrop pushed us to the limit for the whole game. These are mid-major teams, nothing compared to the competition we'll be facing once the ACC season starts. Squeaking by in these opening games raised some questions in my head. Are we simply overrated? Are we just having trouble meshing, with such an incredible freshman class? O

Or is it more like a poll?

What are you looking forward to most about Thanksgiving break: the food, the family, the football, or just being at home away from the pressure of school for a while?

Whatever it is, make sure you go home ready to hear the same question everywhere you turn: 'So, how are you liking school?'

Here is my mashup project, a trailer for a film called 'Endgame,' which chronicles the descent of the United States into chaos as a result of a deepening rift between the conservatives and the liberals. This is certainly a bleak outlook, and it isn't necessarily what I think will happen, but I think it would make a great documentary :)

I revised my playlist to be less personal and more broad, as per Dan's instructions. I have not tampered with the songs or the lyric selections because I think they still apply to the time leading up to college. All I revised were the little commentaries in between songs, which before were quite personal and tuned to my experience. After the revisions, these comments are now more general so that a broader range of people can identify with them.

Mine and Brandon Patton's voicemail is lighthearted and wierd. It wasn't meant to offend any party but seriously, if you are offended, just lighten up a little bit and have some fun. We don't want to start a holy crusade. Just a little message from Satan on God's giant answering machine in the sky. I wonder what would happen if Gary the Pit Preacher got a hold of this? Oh boy.

A simple mix of four images that are distinctly Carolinian, as well as a message I paraphrased from my mother's final speech to me as I stepped out the door.

Note the elusive Pygmy Tree Elephant, seen here in its only natural habitat, on the coastline of Margaritaville. This is a very valuable shot, as the Pygmy lives only on this island. It is seen by only a lucky few, and furthermore only after a few rounds. There have been few confirmed sightings of the Pygmy in the daytime, and none on Sundays.

Jimmy Buffet's song 'Margaritaville' brings to mind images of relaxation, peacefulness and a laid back atmosphere. This collage attempts to embody those same elements, along with the pygmy tree elephant, that somebody might see if they've had one

ESPION.mp3 is finished (very large; about 9.7 megabytes or 10:32 of audio). It tells the story of a spy undercover in France that suddenly loses his longtime friend and sets out for revenge. Here is the link:

I have started recording my podcast, a voicemail/phone call story entitled 'Espion.' I've only just begun and I've used probably a dozen different sound effects, along with altering the pitch of my voice two different ways. Right now the total length of my recorded material is about two minutes, with much more to come. By the way... a great place to do some recording is one of the studies in the upper floors of Davis Library. Very quiet, private, undisturbed.

What we have here is simply a little lighthearted and very pointless voicemail, between God and Satan. Of course we do not intend to start a Jihad. So don't go calling for our heads. Thanks!

Love,
Matt Koh and Brandon Patton
