PORTFOLIO
Dan - I’m not sure if I submitted this correctly, but I revised each project individually rather than revising my midterm portfolio. I hope that works! I tried to distinguish between my revisions and my originals in the best way possible! Thanks!

DAY 1~ I came into this class clueless on editing photos, sharing files on a website, making movies, composing sound files, and all of the other things that we have accomplished throughout the semester.
As Dan began to give a brief overview of programs we would be using and projects we would be exploring over the next few months I immediately felt overwhelmed.

Being that we're all freshman, and all finishing up the end of our very first semester here at Chapel Hill, I'm sure we're going through a lot of the same emotions. Does anyone have any amazing first semester stories? Do we all feel like this semester FLEW by? Is Carolina everything that you expected it to be?...I know we've discussed individual topics dealing with everything that we've been through during this semester, but I'd love to hear about everyone's craziest college experience...so far. And good luck on exams!

dreams

I did a video collage on dreaming. I've always wondered what certain dreams mean, so I looked into the psychological aspect of it. Psychologists use dream interpretation to evaluate their clients minds. There is so much information on this topic, so my video collage is just a glance at the subject!

Mashup

From an early age we see pictures of "beautiful people." On tv, in magazines, even the dolls that children play with represent the ideal "look." This mashup shows what can influence young girls, and even some boys, to give in to eating disorders. James Blunt's "you're beautiful" is played to show that what's always seen in media is not whats truly there & that the ideal look is not really that beautiful.

COLLAGE REFLECTIONS:
The collage assignment was one that I really enjoyed. I love photography so this was fun! Since I revised my playlist, I think that I could probably change a lot about that collage. Though I liked using my own personal photo, I think I could be more representative of the playlist if I used pictures from an airport, or took some sort of similar approach. I think the hard part about this project was to mend all the various photos together without making it look like I just put a bunch of pictures on a page. In the song collage I had so many different ideas about what I wanted to do, it was hard to choose pictures from FlickR. I could not help but think about the music video of the song that I was portraying, so I'm sure that was a bit influential on the images that I selected. I have the citations for the pictures that I used for the song collage but I still need to update them and add in those links. I learned a lot about editing photos and the Seriff program through this assignment, and I wouldn't mind playing with it a little bit more!

For my song collage, I depicted Kenny Chesney's "There Goes My Life." I blurred a highschool letter jacket & football to express the subjects change of priorities. The song begins with the guy feeling upset and destroyed by becoming a young father. In the front of the collage I showed a young lady and a little girl. By putting this in the front I was showing what is now considered the guys "life." The background of this collage is a broken window to symbolize shattered dreams and a blue sky to show happiness.

So as I was going through all of my folders for school, I realized I was overdue on my blog posting. I remember receiving that piece of paper and not being overly worried about recording the week that I was supposed to blog, because it seemed pretty far away at the time. But so far, it seems like nothing is that far away in college. These weeks have sure flown by and it makes it so hard to stay ahead on work and life in general! I feel like I've been so unproductive since I've been here. We're already 1/4 of the way through our freshman year!!!

I'm doing a podcast on greek life and the controversial aspects of rushing, pledging, and being in sororities and fraternities. I have not interviewed anyone yet but I have scheduled 2 interviews for later on today. I have written questions to ask and I have researched statistics and deates on the topic. I'm not exactly sure how its going to turn out so I'm just hoping that it will begin coming together soon!!! If you want to be interviewed then feel free to let me know :-)
