The environmental effects of the use of fossil fuels are devistating. Everybody knows that the use of oil, gas, and other fossilized materials for energy is bad for the environment, but we all still use them. In this video, I put the dangers of these materials in perspective, and learned about the severity of this problem. Hopefully, anyone who veiws this video will reconsider how they use energy each day.

Ever since rap became popular in the early 90's, rappers have been notorious for their use of slang. Today, the well-known artist E-40 is famous for the unique words and phrases he puts in his songs. In the song "Gouda", E-40 is referring to money. Many rappers use "cheese" or "cheddar" to refer to money, but E-40 takes it to another level by making an entire song dedicated to this reference. By putting in videos and images of actual Gouda cheese, it seems as if E-40 is actually rapping about cheese instead of money. Enjoy!

1. Voicemail

As the first assignment we had that involved using an actual computer program, I was pretty hesitant to start it. Mary and I got together as partners, even though we are both terrible with computers and editing. I would say that this was my least favorite assignment just because I felt pretty overwhelmed. Before this class, I barely knew how to personalize my MySpace page, let alone add all the extra decorations onto it. Getting the correct songs on my Ipod was a challenge. So, doing an assignment that incorporated computer programs and required computer literacy was a little bit over my head. However, Mary and I still went into the project with complete optimism. At one point, we were really close to finishing the project until my computer froze and we lost about 90% of our project. Needless to say, we were extremely frustrated. Then, the microphone wouldn't connect to Audacity and everything just seemed a huge mess. We ended up just throwing something together and hoped for better luck on the next project. So, even though this project was my least favorite, I learned a lot of things. I realized that these projects are going to take awhile for me to get used to, and I need to ask for help more instead of trying to figure out everything by myself. Also, I now save all my projects/documents every chance I get!

Jennifer Lopez's Voicemail. I worked with Mary Lide Parker on this project and we had put our sweat and blood into the best voicemail EVER...then the computer CRASHED! Dan said we could just put this up becuase my microphone stopped working and everything seemed to fall apart at the same time! Also.. I need to learn how to back up from the microphone! Either way, it was a good experience to mess around with Audacity before we dove into the Podcasts.

Out of all the sounds that I hear on campus, the sound of the Bell Tower is the one that i associate the most with UNC. We hear the familiar sound everyday, whether its while were "studying" (or even just sleeping) in the UL or rushing to get to class. I almost don't even need a watch anymore because i can just tell what time it is by how many times the bell sounds. The point is, I've associated the sound of the Bell Tower with UNC, and I suspect that whenever I leave campus and hear the same sound, I will think of my experiences here on campus, which brings me to my next point...

We associate different sounds to different people and places everyday.

Experience

My playlist was about a girl who has to break away from her parents to learn life lessons on her own. She encounters a man that shows her one path, and she has to choose between a life where she surrenders to temptation and a life where she resists them.

Freeze

I chose the song "Freeze" by LL Cool J. This song is asking a woman to "freeze" or stay the same while the man goes off on his own way for awhile.

"Don't change...
Don't go...
Don't leave...
Just Freeze
I know girl it's alot to ask
Tell me what other choice I have,
When you love someone this bad"

"Promise I'll be back for you,
When I become a better man..."
