Final Portfolio Playlist: My playlist tells the story of a couple and their thoughts and feelings as they progress through the stages of a relationship and a breakup. To me there are certain transitions and phases we go through as a relationship comes to an end. I tried to represent these stages in chronological order beginning with the relationship. The first few songs on the playlist have an upbeat tone and an exciting rhythm. They demonstrate the fresh, exciting parts of dating and your other half. As time passes the progression moves on to the comfortable stage. Here is where we find girls feel free to let their hair down and show some habits they had been hiding. The relationship tends to get monotonous and become boring. These songs are slower and have sour moods. As one partner decides its time for a change, they enter the paradoxical stage. Where they couldn’t be happier with their decision but then again they are miserable without him/her. This is the time of friends and growing. You realize there is life after a breakup and you begin to move on but not with a drawback. This drawback tends to come after the misery and joy. You think you want them back but when you realize they are missing you just as much as you miss them you know that this not what you need. From here on out it is a learning experience and you look back on the situation as a life lesson and a growing period. At first, my playlist was meant to just describe the technicalities of a breakup. But when you introduced the idea of complication, I went back and revised a few things. In every description of my songs I tried to show the complexity of the feelings. It is not just as easy as one feeling or another. During the entire time of the relationship and even after you are constantly torn between one thought and another. Hopefully you can see the juxtaposition of these contrasting feelings and it helps you better understand why breakups teach us so much about ourselves. This leads me to what I learned.

Coming into this class I wasnt sure what to expect. Maybe some writing, some emailing, who knew I would be learning how to create webpages, voicemails, podcasts and collages. I feel I have benefitted so much from this class and not just from what I have learned about computers and writing. It has been such a pleasure to be able to read the thoughts and ideas of such a diverse group of people. I loved the idea of blogging because it gives me some insight into everyones lives and helps us better understand each other. It has been fun guys! Good luck on your exams!!

With all the talk of weight, eating disorders, beauty I thought it would be appropriate to create a video collage on the beauty of young girls. I have integrated some facts about eating disorders and their effects on young girls but the message I am trying to truly convey is beauty goes beyond your appearance. True beauty is not found externally it is achieved through positive attitude, positive influence, and a positive outlook on life.

With my first entry on the panthers game I was just thinking about how awesome it would be to play on a field under lights in front of 72,000 people. Could you imagine the adrenaline rush and the crowd? AMAZING! That is probably my ulitimate dream. To hear my name come over the loudspeaker and turn to watch a mass of people rise to their feet after hearing your name, incredible. This is kind of a boyish dream but you know what who cares that would be fantastic!

Last night I drove home to Charlotte to watch the Panthers play Tampa Bay. Being there I didnt realize how much I miss people watching. As we were sitting in our seats. We watched some guy spill his nachos all over his lap and then succeeded to eat them. Then we saw a man chasing after his beers that were rolling down the steps. If that wasn't enough a fight broke out behind us and the 60 year old man couldn't help but use his binoculars to watch the topcats dance. (Gross) There are some interesting people at those games! The first half was kind of slow but the second half was pretty exciting

Here it is... I decided to do Materialism based on the discussion with the blogs on how "cool" kids are these days. Also their obsession with money, clothes and cars!

Come again some other day... I have come to the conclusion that I hate rain. I understand it is vital for plant growth and is depended on for other survival. But if i get clipped by one more umbrella, step in one more huge puddle or come to class with my tennis shoes and jeans soaked up to my thighs I will scream. When it rains at Carolina it is so hard to make myself get up to go outside. It was funny this morning I got off the elevator and I realized there was a torrential dowwnpour outside so I was like "oh no, I have to go back up and get my umbrella," and the girl that was with me in the elevator goes "oh no, it's raining looks like im not going to class." And she went right back upstairs to bed. I thought that was pretty amusing. Hmmm... just wondering why does rain frustrate you?

Tomorrow I am supposed to be attending a mixer themed "It used to be cool." This got me thinking. Remember the good 'ol days of jelly shoes, stirrup leggings, and scrunchies? The style back then seemed so hip and now seems so not. How about the crimped hair or the la gear shoes with the no tie laces? What happened to roller bookbags, side pony tails and crimson lipstick? Those were the days... if anyone has any good ideas for a costume let me know!

So the time is steadily approaching as Halloween rounds the corner. Supposedly Halloween in Chapel Hill is the greatest thing since sliced bread. What makes it so great? Standing out on Franklin St. in ridiculous costumes nearly escaping frostbite does not sound so great to me. Where is the candy, the haunted houses? Halloween used to be the biggest holiday to hit my neighborhood. Bigger than christmas more people would decorate their houses for Halloween then Christmas... kind of ridiculous. However, with these past years I have noticed a huge drop in trick-or-treaters. I wonder what its from. |
