Playlist: I didn’t feel my playlist needed any revision from my midterm portfolio so I left it as it was. I am most proud of this assignment because I feel I dedicated a lot of time and effort into this project and felt that I saw some results. I feel the end product effectively tells a story and conveys a message. My playlist chronicles the journey of one man as he travels from the depths of depression. He lives in a dingy one bedroom apartment in the city. He works a 9 to 5 and lives a sheltered and secluded life. He rarely ventures outside of his apartment. He has a severe distrust of those around him, acute agro phobia and potentially schizophrenia. He lives a sad existence and suffers from extreme depression. Nothing, it seems, is working out for him; that is until a woman enters his life. With this new arrival, comes hope for the main character, hope for some normalcy, hope for some happiness, and hope for some love. The playlist and story chronicles the two’s trials and tribulations. This playlist served as a creative outlet and it was for this reason that I enjoyed this project the most. It was my hope that I would be able to do more projects like this, but in the end, most of our projects ended up resembling the playlist collages.

Coming into this class I wasnt sure what to expect. Maybe some writing, some emailing, who knew I would be learning how to create webpages, voicemails, podcasts and collages. I feel I have benefitted so much from this class and not just from what I have learned about computers and writing. It has been such a pleasure to be able to read the thoughts and ideas of such a diverse group of people. I loved the idea of blogging because it gives me some insight into everyones lives and helps us better understand each other. It has been fun guys! Good luck on your exams!!

This is my final portfolio, including my playlist, voicemail, podcast, picture collages, mashup, video collage, blog postings, and reflections on the portfolio and class.

I. Playlist: "The Tale of Sir Diluculo"
This was the first assignment for this course, so I was very excited about it as I haven't had a course/project like this before. I first spent a couple of days trying to decide what to write about. I was going to do one about relationships (especially since I'd just been through one, start to finish), but I proposed this to my friend, and he said that that was too cliche. So, I tried to think of something quite original, and I believe I did. This playlist documents the life of a medieval English knight, named Diluculo, and it tells his tale from his birth to training to the battle of his life.

I wasn't really sure what to do for this assignment and I got fixed on the idea of fire. I guess I am a little bit of a pyromaniac. I think that it is really cool just to sit and watch a fire. I tried to capture the mesmerizing effect of fire with the fire images and song and then counteract that my showing the destructive power of fire. The overall point of the video is that fire is something that is needed to live, but at the same time it can end life.

This is my video collage. It tells the history of Wrightsville Beach, which is where I'm from. I initially wanted to do an "insider's guide" or something of the sorts to Wrightsville Beach and have it focus on local hot spots. However, once I started reading some of the history of Wrightsville, I realized that it was really interesting and there were a lot of things I didn't know. So I went with that route for my video collage. I hope you enjoy it!

I finally found a new program to do video editing in and got the thing done! I really think adding these flash videos like this is way easier than the whole web page thing. But that's just me.

With all the Christmas traditions being shared... does anyone have a cool New Years/New Years Day tradition?
