I chose this song because it deals with love and war which is always relevant, but it isn't the typical happy-sappy love song. It's more of a fight which is why I chose to do this collage, it's challenging and poignant all at the same time.

I chose the song "Freeze" by LL Cool J. This song is asking a woman to "freeze" or stay the same while the man goes off on his own way for awhile.
"Promise I'll be back for you,

I did my collage on the song Red Right Ankle by the Decemberists. The lyrics made me think of everything that comes together to make a person. The phsyical aspects, the thoughts and ideas (and maybe secrets), and the relationships that that person has with others. Based on that interpretation, the collage is pretty easy to understand.

My first collage is of the song "One Step Closer" by Linkin Park. In this song, the speaker essentially declares (through a lot of angry yelling) that the things that a certain other person does and says to him upset and enrage him, slowly pushing him one step closer to the edge...
The anger in this song is displayed through the overall darkness of the collage. The background storm clouds, tumultuous sea, and spiraling vortex further show his agony and rage. The lightning from the eye to the left illuminate a standing figure, showing the determination that the speaker has to express his feelings. The cliffs represent going one step closer; they eventually fade into the screaming face, the over feeling of the speaker.

"There Goes my Life" ~ Kenny Chesney
For my song collage, I depicted Kenny Chesney's "There Goes My Life." I blurred a highschool letter jacket & football to express the subjects change of priorities. The song begins with the guy feeling upset and destroyed by becoming a young father. In the front of the collage I showed a young lady and a little girl. By putting this in the front I was showing what is now considered the guys "life." The background of this collage is a broken window to symbolize shattered dreams and a blue sky to show happiness.

This song made me think of someone who has been away from the place they call home for too long. It does not seem that the man is missing a certain place but a person. This shows that home is not a certain place but it is where the people you love are at a point in time. Objects that surrounded the artist while away from home are lighter in the background because they are not as important as the objects that are not faded and centered in the collage.

“Unwritten” is a song that always inspires me. I listened to the song a few times and wrote down everything I saw in my mind. The song is all about a journey of finding yourself and embracing life. For this, I found a background of a sunrise and road that managed to incorporate both. The sunset represents a new day, a new chance at life. The road is that journey that every single one of us takes in life. The lyrics “Can’t read my mind, I’m undefined. I’m just beginning, the pen’s in my hand, ending unplanned.” represent that journey. The girl is starting out on that journey and as soon as I saw that picture, it made me think of the lyrics from the song: “Release you inhibitions. Feel the rain on your skin…” She going to travel down that rode living her life to the fullest.
