FINAL PORTFOLIO: EMEKA ANEN

Posted On: Tue, 2006-07-25 17:33 by Emeka

1. Playlist: Michael Jackson "Life Under the Microscope"
Revised Submission: Life Under The Microscope

I very much enjoyed the way that Dan present the playlist assignment to us in general. I thought it was quite clever and rather unique of him to present us with the task of filling out a profile of of our own, deciding what changes we would make to the profile to find out more about an individual and then determining how much one's favorite music could be almost a soundtrack to their life and tell a great deal about them. Initiially it seemed as if Dan was beating about for something looking for the right answer I couldn't figure out what he was waiting to hear but now in reflection I can truly appreciate how smoothly and cleverly the assignment was presented.

My Final Blog!

Posted On: Tue, 2006-07-25 15:01 by Emeka

Fittingly, my final blog is what I'd like to call "An ode to Dan." I know I've been preaching it all session, but to an idle minds or anybody casually browsing through this site, it must be known that Dan is by far one of the better teachers here at the University. No i'm not just saying this because we don't do the traditional paper writing every week but because Dan still manages to give us heavy assignments, make them fun, and make them learning experiences all at the same time. Everybody in the class will tell you that there was at least one project that they completely despised or couldn't stand, yet nobody in the class can honestly say that there is one project that they didn't learn something new from! As a result of being in this class I've strengthened by computer and composition skills simultaneously! I've learned to express myself through pictures, movie, spoken word, and even on paper.

Video Reflection

Posted On: Tue, 2006-07-25 14:48 by Emeka

I must admit that by far this video collage was the most tedious project of them all! However, for all of the seemingly odd reasons. #1 I don't know why but it took me longest time to find a topic, I think I spent the first couple of days simple browsng the net trying to find a good topic. #2 From there after finding a topic I encountered issues attempting to put myself in the working mood and get started. #3 Google image search chose this project of all projects to let me down, even my generic and broad searches returned few and scarce results. (I later realized that they kept automatically turning on the automatic filter...

Materialism In the US

Posted On: Tue, 2006-07-25 14:13 by Emeka

Linked below is my movie on Materialism in the United States. My intent on this movie was to attack it from almost an economic and yet social sciences perspective at the same time. I attempted to get into the minds of consumers who may be called or labeled materialistic. I included astonishing fact as to the nature of the debt in the United States and yet at the same time I attempted not to get too fact heavy. I decided to use fade out transitions all the way through simply because this appeared the most proffessional to me instead of things flying in and out of the screen. I am by no means attempting to pass judgement because I may be one of the more materialistic people in the classroom my self. Just an attempt to forewarn college students of the hard and grueling debt wars that may lie ahead!

Summer Schoool

Posted On: Tue, 2006-07-25 13:40 by Emeka

Overall Summer School has not been too bad. I think that I've learned a plethora of techniques and tricks that I will truly be able to benefit from, come the fall semester. Coming in as a freshman in the fall I think I have a bit of an upper edge on the rest of the crowd. Aside from the course credits earned I've had the opportunity to meet many new people and efficiently learn my way around campus from class to class. I've also learned a bit about procrastination and learning when to put things first and seeing how bad delayed assignments can come back to bite you in end. Hopefully I'll finis

Educational Cultural Difference

Posted On: Thu, 2006-07-13 21:23 by Emeka

Just a visual representation on the often commented subject of the educational difference between the youth here in the United States versus the youth of the foreign countries. Specifically a highlight on the tendency of American youth to party, drink, and smoke versus the foregin tendency to study, read, and write. I don't necessarilly agree, in fact I believe having a social life is actually beneficial at times.

FINAL Emeka Anen Personal Collage

Posted On: Wed, 2006-07-12 15:08 by Emeka

This is my final draft for this personal collage atleast thus far. There are a few things I may go back and rework once I become more experienced and proficient in PhotoPlus. Mainly, I worked on editting and softening the images making them blend it, I also did a bit omre towards making the crosss on the right stand out. My final touch was making my name appear as a deeper part of collage flowing better with the text as suggested.

Destined for Greatness (just in case the image entry wasn't accessible)

Posted On: Tue, 2006-07-11 16:50 by Emeka

This collage is representative of myself, because I believe very much that I am destined for Greatness and I believe in myself enough to compensate for those who don't! But really I do believe that anything is possible as long as you keep faith and God first, he's been good to me so I figured the least I could do was represent him somewhat in this collage. I also tried to go for a bit of duality and pattern with the color and theme. I hope you enjoy.

Dan's Assignments

Posted On: Fri, 2006-07-07 14:44 by Emeka

Thus far, believe it or not, lol, I've actually enjoyed Dan's assignments. From the playlistsm, to the profile essay, to the audio essay, I've learned that composition occurs in many more ways besides the pen and the paper. As I know that I've said elsewhere I think that its pretty cool that we're allowed the freedom and opportunity to be so creative with each assignment that we are given. However, I will admit this does have its up and downs. Rather than being restricted to the guidelines of a typical assignment, we essentially have no guidelines, which is good, because we get to be creative and have fun.
