video project
as soon as i heard about this video assignment, i knew that i wanted to do something with the 1920's/"gatsby's" america. the great gatsby is one of my all-time favorite novels, and i had really been wanting to use it in a project all semester -- it just hadn't "fit" yet. however, this video was perfect! at first, i wasn't exactly sure which aspect of the book to focus on -- the 1920's as a whole, the concept of the american dream, etc... there were a lot of options. i decided to try to combine a little bit of everything, though, and finally settled with focusing on the culture of the 1920's and its "effects" on gatsby's dream. i didn't include too much information because i didn't want my video to be just a bunch of boring text, but i hope i conveyed my points through the captions, quotes, and pictures/videos. i think it turned out pretty well -- the only thing i'm not too thrilled about is the ending... i never really figured out a dynamic way to wrap things up. also, some/most of the videos i used within my video aren't very good quality, but it's because most of them really are from a long time ago, so i had to make it work... i had a lot of fun working on it, though, and i hope you guys like it... let me know what you think!
